Limited Liability Company “Scientific and Research Institute of Oil and Oil Products Transportation (NII TNN) was established in September, 3, 2009 (General Meeting’s protocol #1 from 03.09.09). It was triggered by a necessity to develop scientific, production and technological potential of organizations forming family of Transneft companies in the field of design, building, operation and repair of main pipelines, research & development and engineering works.
The Company was officially registered in September, 22, 2009. (State Registration Certificate of a Legal Entity # 77 011232862 issued by Moscow Interdistrict Inspectorate # 45 of Russia’s Federal Tax Service)
According to the decision made by JSC AK Transneft (Order # 178 from November, 03, 2009) the Institute shall:
Moreover the Institute is also responsible for energy audit and development of Energy saving programs and increase of energy efficiency of pipeline facilities owned by JSC AK Transneft.
The Institute encompasses ten centers, 58 sections and four test laboratories. Its man power is 356 people; ten of them have doctoral degrees and 48 – candidate degrees (PhD degree). All of them are top-ranked specialists with expertise in different disciplines: Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Geography, etc.

- Act as a premier organization in performing research & development and engineering works aimed at developing new technologies of equipment; materials used in design, building, operation and repair of main pipelines; and also in forming scientific and technological principles in the design and building of pipeline systems;
- Act as a premier developer of normative and technical documentation and registry for such documentation used in oil and oil products pipeline transportation;
- Act as a premier organization in examining technical documentation, testing production and evaluating quality of production supplied to Transneft organizations; forming and running Registry of technical specifications, programs and acceptance test methods used for production purchased for organizations of Transneft family;
- Act as a premier organization in developing normative and technical documentation and expert evaluation in the field of industrial and fire safety, labor safety, prevention and elimination of emergencies for Transneft organizations;
- Act as a premier organization in providing and evaluating hydraulic and engineering calculations, transient operation of existing and designed main oil and oil products pipelines; and also in evaluating technical condition of main pipeline and oil pumping station facilities;
- Provide expert and consultancy services;
- Run Secretariat of Subcommittee “Oil and Oil Products Main Pipeline Transportation” (PK 7) of the Standardization Technical Committee “Methods and Technology of Oil and Gas Production and Refining” (TK 23);
